What happens when I am ill?

At the moment I have finally succumbed to a bad cold and sore throat that many I know including my partner have had.

So, what oils am I using?

I am using Rosemary, peppermint and eucalyptus for symptomatic relief. Also grating freshhorse radish to unblock my tubes. (For those who haven’t tried grating their own horseradish it is very pungent and if the effect it has on me is anything to go by it could also be used for unblocking drains!

The other oils I always turn to when ill are tea tree and lemon. These are specifically to help me fight off the infection with their strong antibacterial and antiviral effects. I use the oils both in an inhalation putting a few drops of each in a bowl, poouring slightly off boiling water over them and then breathing in the vapours with a towel over my head.

I also add them to a carrier oil and rub it around my neck and chest area at night. This seems to improve my sleep which has been a bit disrupted. I might add Roman Chamomile to the blend for night time if sleep disruption gets any worse.

Either because I have a strong constitution or because I use many different essential oils every week, this is my first time being this ill in several years even when my partner has caught things I usually escape. Perhaps this is a message to me to slow down a little or maybe to get back to spending more time outside and flush things from my system?
