#GE2015 number 3!

More of the other half doing leaflets after I have looked up where some of the roads on the new development are using my phone.

So, having as I stated in my first or second post on this subject, I have nailed my colours to the mast on this one and they are green! Does the Green Party have policies on this? I would say that their policies are covered in their Health policies. This blog talks about that and some of the rational behind the policies. Would I like to see them go further? Yes I would, specifically I would like to see treatments such as aromatherapy and massage being available with vouchers given by the GP that clients/patients could use with complementary practitioners.

I would also like to see massage, and exercise programmes among other things being available on prescription. Above all, I would like to see much more of the emphasis being on health rather than illness. To quote the world health organisation, “Health is a state of complete physical, mental and social well-being and not merely the absence of disease or infirmity.” All too often healthcare is not aimed at achieving and maintaining this but is more about sorting out illness after it has occurred.

I would also like to see massage and aromatherapy being available to all, not just the middle classes who have money to pay for this. Many of the clients I see use massage as a way of maintaining health and I see that as an important part of my role as a therapist. If this avenue is only available to the better off, my work (assuming it is effective) is in part helping to maintain the divide between rich and poor which is a long way from my intention.
