Some of course will have dug over their heavy clay soils to allow the frost to break up the clods over winter, others will be about to get busy digging ready to plant their potatoes later this month. While yet others will be sticking to minimum tillage or no dig systems.
Whichever category you fall into, this is a time of increased activity in the garden meaning time to make sure your body is ready for it! Remember, take care lifting, use your legs rather than your back. If like me you have a slightly dodgy knee work out ways of still using your legs rather than back.
And with the increased time in the garden, it is also time to look after your hands. My beeswax skin balm is ideal for putting onto your hands both before getting them in the soil and afterwards. You can also scrape a bar of soap with your nails first to make keeping them clean easier.
Remember it is easier to keep your hands , back and the rest of your body in good condition rather than repair the damage afterwards!
For those in Trumpington, Cambridge I will be selling hand cream this Sunday at the Habitorial Festival.
Otherwise, to buy some or book a massage hopefully to keep your body in good condition rather than repair the damage contact me on,
